My Life University

I don’t know how or why I’ve gotten to this place of no longer believing the importance of striving for success. Perhaps its my age. I’ve lived a while and experienced a lot, but the rules I’ve been taught do not explain life to my satisfaction.

So I’ve opened myself to a very different perspective of life. I’m ready to go back to school and study this knowledge so that I can experience life fully from this new vantage point. I’m starting a curriculum that's rather unconventional. Actually, it is the only thing to expect when I’m turning the explanations of life inside out and upside down.

The curriculum is extensive with many electives. There is a major; only one major — MyLife. No one majors in anything but their own life. So, although the electives are vast, there is no choice of a major.

That’s just as well. Too many students entering a new school are tempted to change majors if they have a choice. With this school I can focus on the only major that really matters to me: MyLife.

I was drawn to this school after reading many books on personal development, metaphysics, philosophy, quantum physics, systems thinking, organizational development, software development … . The list goes on and on. I read each book with the hope that I would recognize within its pages the answer to what I should do or who I should become.

Instead I found ideas I could be enthusiastic about; even ideas or skills that I taught to others. I did not find me. I did not find my path in the works of others. I was looking for self-validation by doing something that others had found to be valuable. From all of this reading I have learned that others have their own reality that they live within. I create my reality, just as everyone else creates his or her own reality.

So now I’m going back to school. I’m going back to study reality creation, reality definition and reality execution. There are courses in the Principles of Creation, Techniques for Definition, Energy Flow, Personal Guidance, Personal Support System and many others. As with any curriculum, there are general education courses that form the foundation of the more advanced courses. It is important that at any given time I take several courses and each course needs to focus on a different aspect of MyLife.

Aspect may not be the best word. So, let me describe what is meant. Some courses involve mental activities, others are more spiritual while others might be more physical or emotional. Mental, spiritual, physical and emotional are examples of what I call aspects. Another group of aspects are freedom, growth and joy. (The basis of life is freedom, the purpose of life is joy and the result of life is growth.) Then there are the visual, auditory and kinesthetic aspects of learning. A minimum of six of these must be present in a particular set of courses.

So, if during a semester you take 3 courses, you might have one course that combines Mental & Freedom; the second combines Spiritual & Growth; and the third combines Physical & Joy. The specific courses could be the following:

  • Flights of Fancy: extending the mind through contemplation of the impossible.
  • Opening the Heart Chakra: learning to appreciate through selective sifting.
  • Dancing with Delight: exploring movement with music.

The General Education course that would also be requires is Law of Attractions Basics. Fortunately, this course is woven into the three others and prvides a theme underlying the entire semester.

This is my first semester and I have a full load of 12 credits. There are no textbooks. A few handouts and regular homework are the main elements of these courses.

  • Visual Fancies   ( 2 Articles )

Visual Fancies is a 3-credit beginning course that asks me to provide visual examples of creativity. These images may represent the creations of others or of my own. The term fancies encourages me to look for images that evoke joy or laughter or other positive emotion within me.

To better achieve vibrational harmony with these images I am to write about the image and how it feels to me. As I observe that my pondering of the image draws experiences to me, I am to add that information to my initial writing.

  • Personal Definitions   ( 2 Articles )

Personal Definitions is a 3-credit advanced course that explores how my interpretation of terms and concepts defined by others may not have the same value that others perceive. The challenge of this course is to recognize discrepencies and adjust my personal definition to better serve me.

It is my responsibility to identify the terms and concepts that I need to explore. The question on the final exam is: "How did you decide which terms to redefine? Was there any commonality that you could identify in your processes?"
